My top 5 Oculus Rift Games to try this October:

For those of you who don’t follow me on the social media circles, I recently joined a development team for a Oculus Rift game as a sound designer. Joining the team has allowed me to get my hands on an upcoming DK2 development kit this October and while I’m excited to be working on the game; I’m also pretty pumped to try out the current demos for the system. Here’s a look at the top 5 games I’m looking try out once I get it:

#5 – Oculus Rift Roller Coaster

The concept of this one excites me due to all the previous reactions I’ve seen from people trying this game out. The graphics don’t look very amazing but it certainly seems like that doesn’t matter when you have the Oculus on. Bring on the puking!

#4 – Star Wars: Death Star Trench Run

Show this off to any Star Wars fan and I’d be surprised if they told you that they’d have no interest in trying out this demo that recreates that the final scenes of Episode 4. As a fan of the movie franchise and the many, many games that have been made for the series; I can’t wait to take a stab at this. Awesome!

#3 – Mech Warrior

Back in the early 90’s, FASA had a location in Chicago that featured full on Mech Warrior pods that you could get into and experience Mech on Mech combat that was unlike anything else. Later, Activision would release Mech Warrrior 2 on PCs everywhere and that was as close as you could get to getting that same experience, if not better in some circumstances. Now with the Oculus, you get to experience that feeling again as a pilot inside of a giant walking robot. I can’t wait!

#2 – Half Life 2

Its been years since I’ve revisited Half Life 2, but I can revisit it by actually interesting myself in the game universe with Oculus Rift, why wouldn’t I want to play this?!

#1 – Mirror’s Edge

Parkour is something that has always interested me, so when Mirror’s Edge was released it was an obvious pick up for me. The fact that someone has implemented Oculus Rift support with this game blows my mind and I can’t wait to be climbing structures and jumping from building to building with my Oculus!
