Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2: Impressions.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 continues the reboot of the famous game series that started on 8 bit consoles. I recently had a chance to sit down and play the demo and figured I’d quickly share my thoughts on this upcoming sequel:

What is a man...

What is a man…

While Lords 2 will offer plenty of fun for fans of the first game and those who love similar action games such as God of War or Devil May Cry, the demo didn’t give me any desire to drop 60 dollars to see what else the game has to potentially offer.  On the positive side the presentation of the game is hauntingly beautiful and ran quite nicely on my PC with no hiccups in the frame rate. This alone will most likely make the game THE best version to pick up for those who want the highest quality graphics presentation, especially since there is no next gen console version coming out currently. Essentially though, if you’ve played the first game, then you’ll already be familiar with the mechanics that the sequel offers. That includes climbing colossi! Whoops! I mean Titans.

The original title is hands down the best 3D Castlevania game that was ever created, but does it make it my favorite in the entire Castlevania saga? Certainly not! Maybe I’m just not one for change, but I prefer my Belmonts and Draculas to be in 2D format. I expect to pick up this sequel on a Stream sale.
