GameRoom magazine just announced that it is ceasing publication. Current subscribers will be receiving a PDF copy of the GameRoom 20th Anniversary Collection which contains over 20 year of back issues of the magazine. GameRoom cited that “Due to the deteriorating economic climate for print media, it is impossible for us to continue publishing” as its reasons for ceasing production.
I’m sad to hear the announcement on a personal level, just because I loved how connected the magazine was with fellow game room enthusiasts. The magazine while small contained some interesting and informative articles on both pinball and arcade collecting. I only had the opportunity to be subscribed to it for a year and recently just re-subscribed to continue delivery of the issues, which won’t be happening now obviously.
In a sense, I should of figured something was up when the magazine was advertised to be present at the recent Pinball Expo and was no where to be found. In its place was a rep for Pinball Journal (Which I recommend if you’re a fellow pinhead like me.)
If you’ve never checked out the magazine before, try to find some back issues and experience some of the great articles the magazine contained.
